Interest in Stallworth?

Update:  Days Later – Stallworth signed with the Patriots.  I was out of town.  You all know this already.

Update: 09:14pm – We are hearing that these rumors are just that, rumors. The 49ers making a run at Stallworth is at this time the same as it was with them showing interest in Porter. Very little.

*****
Pro Football Talk is at it again. This time they are saying the 49ers are showing interest in Stallworth.

Per a league source, Stallworth has received a contract offer from the Titans. He previously has received offers from the Eagles and the Patriots. Stallworth currently is visiting the Dolphins.

And we’re hearing that the 49ers are now interested in Stallworth. At this point, it has not yet been decided whether Stallworth will visit San Fran.

We’d previously heard that Stallworth planned to make a decision by Friday. The arrival onto the scene of the Niners could change those plans.

Who are you talking about??? I predict we are going to go Wilis in the first, Merriweather or best receiver available in the second, if we get a receiver in the second then we will start with the d line or o line in the third….defenitely if we get a receiver in the second….fourth will be more d back ups and a running back to take hicks place.

  2. Ryan the 1st says:

Steve Breaston will be available in the 5th round because he has it all except he isn’t a good route runner….that is why they always gave him the quick out passes or had him run the flat when he played at Michigan. He didn’t have to run routes, but he was quick enough in the open field to juke corners….we need him in the 5th round if Nolan is as impressed with Brandon WIlliams as I am. there were just too many fair catches.

  3. AM says:

i think we are all having withdrawls because of the lack on new news. I can’t believe we have resorted to talking about special teams.

  4. Genova80 says:

Here are some WR’s that had a decent season in ‘06 that are free agents:

    Ernest Wilford
    Patrick Crayton
    Samie Parker
    Eric Moulds

They would probably come at a reasonable price. Wish we would pick up one of them since I know we won’t get Stallworth.

  5. Ryan the 1st says:

We won’t sign any of those players unless they are SUPER cheap. It is going to slow for the niners organization until the end of April because all we are going to do is re-sign Gore….although that is BIG!!!

  6. Genova80 says:

Yeah I know, just saying, if we need a WR than we get one of these four players that are cheap and seem like there careers are somewhat on the rise. Except Eric Moulds, he’s starting to decline by age. But yeah, re-signing Frank Gore is the most important thing.

  7. Ryan the 1st says:

Now you know it is slow…..I don’t think that there has been more than ten posts on this site today.

  8. thizzel says:

ckique dat 2 see wat tha niners needs..

  9. j-reezy says:

Yeah breaston in the 5th round will be good and to replace hicks should be chris henry from fsu ran a 4.33 he might be around in the 4th if not get him in the 3rd he is big too both games I seen him play it was 125+ yards and atleast 1 td

  10. j-reezy says:

My bad the kid is from arizona I was putting 2 running backs together

  11. medford says:

this website starting to suck with 2 day old news

  12. medford says:

http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/years/2003 look at the guys we could of had instead of kwame harris larry johnson anquan boldin ken hamlin eric steinbach CRAZY!

  13. Genova80 says:

Man, crazy seeing that Larry Johnson went right after Kwame Harris.

  14. jc25 says:

did you guys notice that pat willis’s # is 49

  15. Big M says:

yeah i was gonna mention something but never did. glad u brought that up

  16. jeff says:

The Pats just signed Donte Stallworth. This was on 2-minute warning—Sirius Radio

  17. jeff says:

I think we should consider Travis Taylor or Eric Moulds. Both would provide some experience and be a more than adequate #2 receiver.

  18. (the real) Adam says:

He agreed to a deal with the Pats.

  19. Ryan the 1st says:

I would rather have Mould because he would accept his role and play. We sign him to a two year deal….he would compete for the two spot and probably lose, but would be a great #3 receiver for us until we get another receiver who Sullivan can mold. I REALLY wish we would pull the Manny Lawson so we could land another low twenty pick in the 1st round. That would let us tap some REAL talent. We might be able to get Meechum or Bowe…..or a stud defensive player. Otherwise, Jason Hill, Merriweather, or a good o lineman in the second.

  20. R,Craig33 says:

I guess eric moulds will be our next reciever since stallworth is gone to the patriots we definately need another WR I mean who else is out there?

  21. Ryan the 1st says:

Whats done is done…..time to think about the Gore contract. If we get that done before the start of the season then we had an extremely good free agency period….I am really hoping that Garrett Wolf will be available in the 5th. If he is then we have our answer to Maurice Hicks leaving. I know he hasn’t yet, but I foresee that he will. Nolan is purging any players that were around from the Dennis Erickson spectacle and getting rid of them. I’m all for it….there ARE a few that are worth keeping, but for the most part….let’s bring in fresh legs and a new attitude. I’m not doubting Hicks’ heart, but I think that Wolf is young, fast, and would excel playing a limited role behind Gore and Robinson. TRUST ME…..draft him in the 5th if he is STILL there.

  22. Ryan the 1st says:

Darius Walker is also another GREAT option if he is still there.

  23. TJ says:

Whatever happened to the Niners interest in Sprague? He was mentioned in the beginning of FA but not heard of since.

  24. Ryan the 1st says:

I know…they made is sound like he was for sure going to be a niner and it was just a matter of time. Doesn’t look like that was accurate.

  25. Genova80 says:

I had a dream last night that the 49ers drafted Ted Ginn. Maybe its a sign.

  26. Ryan the 1st says:

Todd McCshay of ESPN news and the Mercury news also think as you do…..I would rather have Willis, we can get a quality receiver in the second round….Willis would turn into our leader by the end of the season. Trust me!!! He WILL be in the running for NFL defensive rookie of the year. He just has instinct that are unmatched. He always is in the play and knows how to communicate to the rest of the defense what the offense is thinking. He’s 6′2″ and ranges from 240 to 250 (depending on your website) and he ran a 4.5 40. That is impressive. Ginn is fast, but he is soft. IF he gets a good hard blow on a kick return he is going to fold like a kite. I think that we need to keep the first pick defensive.

  27. Ryan the 1st says:

Erickson, Big M…..when do you foresee us hearing more about the Gore contract???

  28. Genova80 says:

    KFFL.com reports:

Stallworth signs with the Patriots, 6yr.33 million contract

And the 49ers may target DE Adam Carriker with the 11th pick.

  29. Genova80 says:

I like Willis, we should defenitely pick him up if he is available at our pick.

  30. Ryan the 1st says:

Carriker was a BEAST at the Senior Bowl….that works for me. I still would rather have him than Ginn Jr. There is something about a guy who is that large and has THAT MUCH POWER that scares o linemen. He ranges in height from 6′6″ to 6′8″ depending on your website, but I promise you that he will weight 300 pounds by the draft. The other thing is that he just knows how to beat the guy in front of him. I just remember him breaking loose all the time in the senior bowl. He stood out SOOO much because he is so DAMN BIG running into the pocket after the running back with a clear shot. He smacked the running back so bad that he didn’t get up for a while. It made him think about it a little bit. Carriker is definitely quality.

  31. Ryan the 1st says:

However, that contract report isn’t even accurate….check out http://www.profootballtalk.com …….they tell a much different story about the contract. He COULD earn that money, but he is going to have to stay healthy and consistently produce the whole year for him to even be considered for the full rewards of that contract.

  32. jerry says:

trade up for calvin johnson.or draft alan branch laron landry patrick willis, levi brown or adam carriker. or trade down for de/olb anthony spencer or ot/og justin blaylock.i talk about this stuff all day at the bar i work at.

  33. Ryan the 1st says:

Yeah, I agree with you Jerry….talking to the Pats would make sense because then we could land Meechum and Blaylock. However, I am for the Manny Lawson type trade if we traded for just the Partriots 24th pick that would be great….except I think they are going to try and package deal them for a higher pick…..look for them to start talking to the Redskins and hope for Jamal Anderson. I REALLY hope Nolan is on the wire trying to get a feel for who in the twenties would allow him to trade up….there is SOOO much talent STILL available in that range. We would pick up a quality starter there.

  34. J5 says:

He just signed with the patriots

  35. Ryan the 1st says:

We REALLY need a new post. I think that Nolan is NOT going to try and move to a higher pick in the draft….no one will trade with us in the top ten without totally taking EVERYTHING. I think Nolan should either try the Manny Lawson or stay where he is…..with that many picks we could solidify almost EVERYTHING.

  36. AM says:

I hate the fucking patriots. They steal all the players we pursue. If we go for a wr at 11 dont go for ginn jr. hes too small. we need a tall reciever.

  37. john says:

yea maybe even trade down get some other pick and take a wide out in the later first round instead

  38. j-reezy says:

Stay where we are at and get willis and merriweather in the second and a wr then a d lineman then o line then a running back later that’s how it should be

  39. Ryan the 1st says:

Merriweather is a reach at the second round….when I speak about him being our second pick, that’s like a Christmas type situation If goes past the dolphins in the second I would be shocked.

  40. jerry says:

    i like that idea too.

  41. NickDSlick says:

I love Carriker, Landry, Merriweather, and Willis. Defense wins championships and I would like to think our offense is better than the Raven’s superbowl winning team and we could be on the verge of having a dominant defense. I think we really need a play maker at the free safety position like Ed Reed. Our pass rush will be better this year with the addition of Cain and growth of Lawson along with better coverage. As far as receivers go the draft is abundant with them and I like Jason Hill as a reciever in the 2nd maybe even 3d round. What picks do we have and does anyone have any clue about our compesation picks or whatever they are called? I read were expecting 8 first day picks. Maybe well score and 2nd and 3d rounder for the Peterson deal.

  42. CHINESE FOOD says:

garrett wolfe?he makes maurice jones-drew look like a giant.he’s like 5′4 and skinny.he might be fast and the leading rusher but he’ll get his ass handed to him in the nfl.well we should get darius walker befroe him.

  43. Ryan the 1st says:

He is 5′7″ and he isn’t skinny at all….know what you are talking about before you type. I have watched him play….he’s like a minature Jerome Bettis, but faster.
