The Eddies: Week 14
Each week we will hand out the Eddie Awards. These awards are like the Oscars and the Emmys. The Award is named after former owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. We’ll present these awards after every game. Here are the Eddies for the 49ers/Packers game.
Player most likely to get hurt more than Jonas Jennings: The Eddie goes to Donald Strickland. In both his starts he has left the game due to injury. All within the first quarter.
Player most likely to kill momentum with an interception: The Eddie goes to Tim Rattay…sorry that was a couple years ago. The Award goes to Alex Smith, for another late interception that put any chance for a comeback out of reach.
Offensive Lineman most likely to not move when the ball snaps: The Eddie goes to Jonas Jennings. I know Heitmann snapped it early, but still funny watching Jennings still in stance letting KGB go right by.
Player most likely to celebrate after a catch regardless of how many yards it is: The Eddie goes to Vernon Davis. Davis’ first catch of the day for seven yards, three shy of the first, resulted in excitement for the rookie tight end.
Hardest Announcers name to pronounce and spell: The Eddie goes to Matt Vasergh…aw screw it.
Player most likely to elude the 49ers defense, throw a rainbow pass for a touchdown, all while in a wheelchair: The Eddie goes to Brett Favre, and his owning of the 49ers.
Worst performance in coverage: The Eddie goes to Sammy Davis.
Worst performance by a offensive lineman: The Eddie goes to both Kwame Harris and Jonas Jennings.
Best Cheerleader: The Eddie goes to Aaron Rodgers and Derek Smith.
Most surprising play of the day: The Eddie goes to Mike Nolan for going for it on 4th and 3.

Seriously…why are all of our HIGH DOLLAR players like Jonas Jennings and Shantae Spencer sitting it out all the time. THey need to change their tampons and take their midol. To Shantae Spencer…you were a let down this season…were NEVER clutch…and were never there when we needed you. Oh, I have no doubt you’ play for the broncos game, but that is too late and too little. Players play injured with the injury you have all the time. It is sad that such a telented player is going the way of Jonas Jennings.
By the way….CUT SAMMY DAVIS FOR GOD’S SAKE. I THINK WE HAVE SEEN HIS CAPABILITIES BY NOW…THEY DON’T EXIST!!!
Sammy Davis suckz………..
Facts are facts and it IS a fact that Sammy Davis should not be a part of our plans next year at all. There was a reason that the chargers dumped him off to us and now there is a reason why we should do the same…everyone’s number two receivers or number one receivers BURN him all the time. When you look back at this season. He has given up some big plays on us.
I’d say everyone’s number four/five receivers could burn Sammy Davis.
Even my mom could burn Sammy Davis
Spencer was never HIGH DOLLAR! You cant badmouth the guy. Aside from the injury, he has been solid.
That INJURY has been something that has kept him out of the games that we have needed him the most during the time of year we need him most. You act like no one has ever played hurt with this type of injury before…plenty of players have and still do. The difference is that Shantae decided that he wanted to call it an early season and basically give too little too late. Facts are facts!!! Yes, he is talented. Yes, he is a good player. Yes, I will continue to cheer him on and want him to stay on my team, but this year (to me personally) he was a let down. Walt Harris has outperformed him and we are paying him way less money. I maintain that signing him to an extension was wise, but still he was a let down. We have no need for him agaist the Broncos. We needed him against the Saints!!!
