Roman Signs 3-Year Extension
ESPN is reporting that safety Mark Roman has signed a 3 year extension with the 49ers. Details of the contract have not been disclosed. Roman was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He has appeared in 15 games, with 10 starts, and registered 56 tackles, one interception and six passes defensed.
San Francisco signed Roman on July 29, only two days after he was released by the Green Bay Packers early in training camp.

i guess we are not going to get a free agent or draft pick at safety
we still nead a cover safety on passing downs!!!
This doesn’t mean anything…Roman is a good player to sign an extension with. He WANTS to play for our team and no one said that he was going to be a our starter next year. He is good, solid veteran help that sure beats the hell out of what Parrish was doing for us this year. Last time I checked, in the NFL you don’t have just ONE free safety and one strong safety. It was good to lock this guy up. Now if we can just keep around the good ones in the rest of our secondary. That would be Mike Adams, Walt Harris (for another year or two), pound for pound.
I have no problem with this. Roman’s stats have never proven his worth throughout his career, but he performs and does it at a fairly high level. Sure, it kind of eliminates a top name free agent (big deal), but it doesn’t eliminate the idea of drafting a safety. Last time I checked, substitions work pretty well.
pretty good
now we need corner back help.who are the other corners that are free agents, except for nate clements.
He is an extremely aggressive safety that gives NOTHING for free…if you catch the ball and he is near by you better believe he is going to lay the lumber on you. I’m not saying he is a pro bowler, but he is definitely a really solid player to put on the roster of our secondary. So anyone who is thinking that we aren’t going to pick up Nate Clements needs to hold on a minute before they start speaking any doubts.
i have doubts, the red skins are interrested and i dont know if the bills will resighn him.
I think Asante Samuel would come at a much better price and is almost as good as Clements. Plus, he’s younger! I think he’d be a better investment. No matter what, we need one of the two.
Archuleta wants out of DC… What do you guys think about that?
I like the Asante Samuel idea…Samuel can play BOTH corner and safety, which makes him extremely valuable. Also, the price WILL be much better. Clements is a stud, but we are either going to be able to get Thomas and Samuel OR Samuel and Clements. WE NEED ADALIUS THOMAS. Our corner situation isn’t as big a need as we NEED to fill in the holes that Ulbrich and Smith leave when they are in the game.

You forgot to mention probably the most important Free Agent for us this offseason.
justin smith,d.j.hackett,chris brown as back up,max starks and randal gay there my picks.but i doubt we will get all of them.
and draft dave harris the insidelinebacker from michigan..
and did anyone see sidney rice play last night he is the man.
Samson is a loser and always will be
I pick lance briggs, nate clements, michael turner (imagine him with frank gore)dwight freeny, jared allen, and patrick crayton.except for dwight freeny, I didn’t pick anybody from the colts because last time I checked they couldn’t stop a pop warner team from running
we really don’t need michael(the burner)turner, but it would be pretty sweet if we signed him.Him and frank Gore would tear it up,plus turner can return kicks plus he’s used to playing behind #21
here is a list of college players we should go after(im not good at spelling names)
laron landry S LSU
desmond bishop LB CAL
daymeion hughes CB CAL
leon Hall CB MICHIGAN
jeff samardzija WR NOTRE DAME
ted ginn jr. WR Ohio state
dwayne jarrett WR USC
gaines adams DE CLEMSON
darrelle revis CB PITT
calvin johnson WR georgia tech
Has anyone heard of Quentin Moses???? Google him. If we don’t get Adalius then we should go after this bulldog in the draft.
i seen the profile on quentin mosses.its nice but if we get adalius thomas.where are we going to play mosses .we got to many under sized defencive ends playing linebackers.we got manny lawson, parys haralson, and melvin oliver.if we stick with a 4-3 we got to many defencive ends.we need middle linebackers and corner backs.plus we need a MASSIVE DEFENSIVE TACKLE to replace bryant young in one or two years.one or two wide recievers would be nice too! PLUS IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT DEFENCE WE USE.brandon moore looks more comfterble in a 4-3.but we could switch back to a 3-4.who knows?
peter griffen how about, d.e.,adam carriker,d.t.brandon mebane from cal.or,d.t.mark thomas from florida.
one of our main concerns this of season should be middle linebacker derick smith just didnt have it this year and will be 34 next year.
and everybody ran all over us this season.
funny im watching the bulldogs right now.
If we don’t get Adalius, then we get Moses is what I said… The reason we have ends playing linebacker is because we’re trying to build a 3-4…. the outside backers in the 3-4 are undersized ends who can rush the passer and drop in coverage.
after watching the game today it doesn’t look like we need any help.
i think our FS & SS position has already got sure starters in Keith lewis and mark roman they hav played solid together and just need too build on that next season what we need to add depth or a sure starter in LB’s and CB .walt harris isnt getting any younger and can be used in Nickel next season so we need to grad a good CB thru free agency or thru the draft and some solid LB’s and DE & DT if we want to run a successful and consistent 3-4 or 4-3
