Playoffs Could Come Down to Rattay

The 49ers have to hope for a couple things in order to make the playoffs. They have to win out and the Seahawks need to lose out. Not only would the 49ers make the playoffs, but they would also win the West. I know those chances are slim, but just imagine heading into the last week of the season the 49ers having a record of 7-8 and the Seahawks at 8-7 and it coming down to the final game. That is where ex-49er Tim Rattay comes in. All eyes would be on Timmy and the Bucs that Sunday morning. It would most likely be the only time every 49ers fan is supporting Rattay.

I so want that scenario to happen. Nothing would be more exciting than watching that last game with so much riding on the line. Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself, I need to focus on this Sunday’s game. The 49ers need to beat the Cardinals and the Seahawks need to lose to San Diego, before this is even a possibility. So for this week only I’m both a 49ers and a Chargers fan.

  1. it is for our destiny to win the west this year and nolan will be coach of the year … mark my words .. sure wished frank was # 1 in rushing though .. it looks like LT is taking it all the way to 1800+ … go niners

  2. JDUBB says:

One step at a time baby…..Arizona is our playoff game! We gotta payback Rolle and James for their bs remarks after they won week 1.

  3. samra says:

i figured out the senerio and it is very likely if we play in the playoffs our oppent will be tha eagles as the wild card team, that would be absolutely great (if we get some ref that can actually ref), time for vengence baby

  4. steve says:

this is getting way ahead of ourselfs but i don’t want to play the eagles, my prediction is that if they win their division they are going to the superbowl.

  5. San_Fran_Fan says:

it would actually be in San Fran to if we win the division. Wouldn’t that be great…a 8-8 team hosting a 9-7 team!!

There is also a legitamite shot at getting a wild card if Seattle wins on these next 2 games. We need the giants to both games, falcons to lost at least one game and the packers to lose one game.

For some reason they have Minnesota listed above us in the standings, but I believe we have the tie breaker with a head to head win, right? then it comes down to conference record.

  6. eddie says:

eagles and giants are my prediction to go to the play offs.i would be happy just being 7-9 this year.i can see us winning against the cards.but dever is going to be hard.

  7. MrBoBo says:

Denver is gonna be rough. But its a damm good feeling knowing that we are only going to get better from this day forward

  8. Straighthate says:

I would bet money the Niners win this weekend and Seattle loses, but week 17 is gonna be tough. I don’t see the Seahawks losing to Tampa or the Niners pulling out a tough game in Denver, but it could happen. Still, looking back on this year, the Rams and Packer games gnaw at me. No way should those games be in the L column.

  9. Uh says:

I don’t think that Rattay will take the niners to the promised land…

  10. cddsf says:

are you guys still on cloud 9? PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS??!! i wouldn’t be surprised if they lose to the cardinals and the broncos. this is a lot like the win after the seahawks in SF, people were talking playoffs. then 49ers lose 3 straight.

  11. Ryan says:

The chances are slim…there is no denying it. Winning three in a row again for the niners is a long shot…let’s be realistic. I would love for them to do it, but we don’t have it together like that. We don’t deserve to make the playoffs because we lost to St. Louis (we needed that game) playoff teams win that game. Also, Green Bay (there was no excuse for being lit up like that in our own place. Again, I would like us to make it, but our record speaks for itself. If we would have won those two games then we would have deserved to be there. The horrible thing is that we seem to look like the strongest team in our division.

  12. #6 Pick Verron Davis 4 President says:

It won’t happen, but it could. The bigger picture is the 49ers have improved a lot, to the point where they are very close to making the playoffs. That’s something to be happy about.

  13. imfasterhanur says:

Like the comments above, I agree that it is a long shot and we are looking far ahead of ourselves; but it feels DAMN good that the games during December actually matter, as opposed to last year when we were thinking about Drafting Reggie Bush in April.

The Niners have made numerous mistakes and still are in position to steal a playoff spot. Imagine what’s to come next year! We’re 40 Million under the Cap and are only gonna get better. Like Frank Gore said, “Its gonna be trouble in the NFC West, TROUBLE!”

  14. ElKid says:

We should definately beat Arizona and San Diego should definately beat the Seahwaks. But week 17 doesn’t look so good… I’m really hoping for Tim Rattay to light it up and for the Broncos to fall apart

  15. MNM says:

whether they make the playoffs or not, things are definetely on the way up…with 42 mil in cap space and 8 picks in the first 4 rounds, there is plenty of opportunity to make this team much better for next season.

  16. eddie says:

does any one know what draft pick we got for cody pickett,im guessing 6th or 7th rounder.plus two extra picks in the forth.im hoping on getting nate clemons if we are lucky.every mock draft has us getting a cornerback or wide receiver in the first.

  17. todd says:

you niners got lucky this year.seahawk will be back next year with the broom to sweep your sorry asses.

  18. eddie says:

who does this guy think he is.next year will be the same as this year .the seahags will be crying the 49ers swept us again.boho boho boho.

  19. mario says:

todd, first of all, your a fuckin homo, why post on a niner forum about the seacocks sweeping the niners? your fuckin gay thats why. does anyone have a list of all the pics we have in this draft? were gonna be killers next year guys. 42 mill to spend and so many great defensive fa’s this year. a million draft picks, i think i heard 8 in the first four rounds!!! we are already the strongest most solid team in the division. and our young up and comers are gonna be better. hard to imagine frank gore getting any better but its probably gonna happen. and alex smith will really know the norv turner offense well and get more freedom to use it. big things next year fellas, we’ve sufferend long enough. go niners!!!

  20. eddie says:

i thought we we only have one first rounder, ond second rounder, one third rounder.and then three picks in the forth round because of a.carter going to redskins and an other pick because of barlow going to the jets and the one we already have.

  21. eddie says:

i cant wait to see how good vernon davis is going to be if we get another good receiver

  22. shane says:

The f’n rams had to beat us with 27 secs left didnt they

  23. shane says:

also…i beleive the seahawks will loose out,, im worried baout us winning out..thts what im worried about

  24. Erickson says:

Eddie & MNM…here are how the draft picks are looking.

    1st – 1
    2nd – 1
3rd – 1 could go to 2 with a comp pick for Peterson
4th – 3 (Ours, Redskins, Jets) but could go to 4 with a comp pick for Carter.
    5th – 1
    6th – 1
7th – 1 (49ers do not get a draft pick for Pickett, since Texans released him.

May get a comp pick for Anthony Clement and possibly one more. Draft picks will be around 11-13.

  25. Richard says:

Would a 4 and a 3 amount to an early second. I would sure love to be able to trade some of those 4 rounders for a solid impact player. Wouldn´t mind at all takiing the 2 and 3 for a middle to late 1. Is that possible? Ive heard theres a table of equivalents of what you can trade for what? Where can I get it?

An I agree with almost everyone elses comments, I really hope we dont lay an egg against Arizona. The way the Niners have been playing I think we have better chances of beating Denver than Arizona, only due to a mental factor.

How concerned should we be about Heitmanns replacement? The way I see it, we could expect to see A Smith on his ass all day against the Cards.

  26. eddie says:

i fergot about peterson,i thought we should have got at least a second round for him.
